West Coker Scouts support the Climate change with Parish Tree Planting
Over several November cold weekends West Coker Scouts, volunteers and parents have grabbed their spades and head out into the countryside around the West Coker Parish to aid Parish Councillor Bryn Andrews with the Parish tree planting project.
Hundreds of trees have now been planted alongside hedgerows and ditches to support the climate change emergency. By increasing our tree canopy coverage, we are not only aiding the growth of local wildlife and inhabits but also improving mitigations towards localised flooding, capturing carbon straight from the air and improving our own personal health and well-being.
I would like to thank Bryn personally for supporting the Scouts with this meaningful project and thank all the Scouts, parents and volunteers who supported. We are looking forward to the next phase and to seeing these trees grow up alongside our young people.
