West Coker Scout Group: Charity No: 1173643

Fundraising for the group is an essential activity to help fund resources such as camping, sports, games and cooking equipment, aid reserve funds for ‘the just in case scenario’ or even to provide hardship funds to our families most in need. Additionally, from time to time, we use it to help subsidise our on-going programme and try to keep our camps, activities, trips and term subs as low as possible for all.

How can you help us with fundraising?

We understand that the economic climate is tough for all families right now and our West Coker Scout Group parents / Guardians are already doing so much to support the on-going programme. We do not wish to add to costs but find creative ways where can support West Coker Scout Group buy carrying on with our everyday activities such as shopping or turning fundraising events into social occasions which brings our volunteers, members, families, and local communities together. Below are several ways where you or people you know could help us with simple fundraising activities:

Donate

Sometimes, from time or time, normally at community events or gathering we get asked about how individuals could provide a financial donation (a one-off payment to the Scout Group). The easiest way to do this is:

Legacy funds

This is something which seems to be growing in popularity. The Legacy fund provides a point of contact for a donation within an individuals or family members Will or more informal understanding between family members. We have had donations to the group in the past where at the sad time of a family member passing, they have asked to give some money to the Scout Group. Sometimes as a general donation or sometimes targeted towards a particular area – camping, first aid or defibrators, active sport or games or even trophies and replacement of Flags.

The Scout Group are of course grateful for any of these donations, but we also wish to repay kindness from such donations like this with plaques or recognition of the individual so that their legacy lives on.

Our annual fundraising events and activities:

From Coffee mornings to Big Breakfast events, Bingo to jumble sales, we run them all, not just as a fundraiser but as a way of bringing the community together. They are all important to us and we really could not do it without the kind donations of our volunteers and parents. Even our Xmas Card delivery service is an important activity for us where we are delivering a service as well and generating some much-needed funds.
