We are finally home – Welcome to West Coker Scout Groups new home…
On Saturday 5th November 2022 after a year without a headquarters for the Scout Group, West Coker Scout Group were finally facilitating an opening event for the new Jubilee Pavilion alongside our fellow tenants and the parish council at West Coker Recreation Ground.
It’s been a hard year without a home, especially after returning from the pandemic but thanks to the Parish Council and the West Coker Commemoration Hall we have had the use of temporary accommodation. That’s said, there is nothing like your own home and the opening of the new pavilion has created a lot of excitement across the group from parents, volunteers, and the young people.
The Pavilion was designed to meet the needs of West Coker’s young people for the rest of the century; it is fully insulated, has LED lighting throughout and has underfloor heating with air-source heat pumps.
It was built by P H Hardwill and has two large halls, a fully fitted kitchen, a bar/ servery, showers/changing rooms, and toilets. Its facilities are ‘accessible’
The event saw members of the Parish Council and our District Councillor Gina Seaton cut the ribbon and open the event officially.
The Cornwall Award was officially presented to our Scout Emily Saville and our volunteers across the group were recognised for their efforts and support in making this hall go from dream to reality.
A special thanks and recognition must go to Rob Cash, a former local scout and now Managing Director of Kutchenhaus Kitchens for the extremely generous donation of a new kitchen facility for the hall. Thank you so much.
